Educational History:

I graduated from Liberty-Eylau High School in 1976. During my high school years, as president of the Youth Red Cross, I recieved the Reagan Award for leadership. Singing in the choir was a joy, and I was voted Choir Sweetheart. Being chosen to represent Liberty-Eylau at Girl's State was my greatest honor. Cheerleading and Pep Squad were fun times for me. I enjoyed participating in school activities such as, Class Officer, National Honor Society, Nike, Student Council, Future Teachers of America, and other clubs and organizations.

I recieved my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from East Texas State University/Texarkana in 1981. By means of the Liberty-Eylau ISD Master's Program, I obtained a Master of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University/Texarkana in 2007.

Current Position:

I have worked in the teaching field with the Liberty-Eylau School District for thirty-eight years. At nineteen, I began working as a teacher's aide in 1977. Having begun teaching fourth grade in 1982, I changed to third grade after many years.

In 1997, I was chosen as the Intermediate Teacher of the Year and Liberty-Eylau ISD Teacher of the Year. Representing Liberty-Eylau in this capacity was a "dream come true." The following year I was equally honored as Sam's/Walmart Teacher of the Year for the State of Texas. I recieved the C.K. Bender Leadership Award in 2013.

I have great passion for the Reading and Language Arts areas, that I currently teach, at the third grade level.

Family Information:

While I am no longer married, I do have three wonderful sons, Bradley and the twins, Bryce and Brett. Additionally, I have also been blessed to have three beautiful daughter-in-laws, Brooke, Elizabeth, and Jesicca. Finally, there is the best of all, my six delightful grandchildren, Tatum, Triston, Braven, Breck, Ryder, and Rhett. All my children attended Liberty-Eylau and one of my grandchildren, Triston, still does. The rest are a bit more "scattered about" these days.

My mom, Martha Mangum, a Liberty-Eylau graduate herself, resides next door. Not only is she my mother, she is also my best friend and greatest moral support as a teacher.

Personal Information:

I love going with my mother to resale shops, flea markets, and antique stores, a.k.a. 'junkin'. When my fella, Dwayne, is in town, we like to go watch movies, go out to eat together, and as much shopping as I can talk him into.

Every day, life is a learning experience for my students and for me. I really enjoy having my classroom cheerfully decorated and my students love it. I always make every effort to bring an interesting, motivating, and fun educational adventure into my classroom.
