Current Position:

For the 2000-2001 school year I accepted a position teaching Special Needs students in a self-contained classroom at Liberty-Eylau Elementary School.  In 2013, I made a vertical move from the self-contained Special Needs class to 4th grade Venture Language Arts/Reading.  For the 2015-2016 school year, I will be teaching 4th grade Writing here at C.K. Bender Elementary.

Previous Position:

My teaching career began with teaching 1st grade for the 1986-1987 school year at Pleasant Grove ISD.  The following year, I taught 5th and 6th grade Language Arts/Reading.  The 1988 school year I accepted a teaching position with TISD teaching Junior HIgh Resource Language Arts/Reading at Pine Street Junior HIgh, where I remained unti my husband's military transfer to Hawaii.  In Hawaii, I taught 7th/8th grade at a private charter school for gifted students with dyslexia, Prek4 English as a Second Language for Japanese speaking students, and High School Resource Language Arts/Reading. Following another military transfer, I taught a Junior HIgh class for students with Behavior Disorders.  Upon moving back to Texarkana in 1996, I taught in a self-contained Community Based Instruction program for special needs students until 2000.

Family Information:

I have been married to my husband, Joseph, for 25 years.  We have a 25 year old son, Derrick, and a 21 year old daughter, Tyler.  Both of our children graduated from Liberty-Eylau.  We also have 4 grand-daughters: Reagan 5, Corie 4, Riley 3, and Charlotte almost 2 and our God-daughter, Keiuna 7.  Our grandchildren currently attend LE.
